Armadale, West Lothian born full back John O’Hare played for Shawfield Juniors from 1932 before joining First Division Chelsea, for whom he made his Football League debut at Middlesbrough in February 1934. Initially a fringe player at Stamford Bridge, he broke into regular reckoning for the first team in September 1935, and played through to the summer of 1939 when his football career was cut short by the Second World War, having made 108 appearances for The Pensioners. He stayed at Stamford Bridge playing wartime football until 1941 but didn’t resume his career at a senior level after the War.
