Longridge, Lothian born left half James Nimmo began his senior football career with Scottish League club Broxburn United, from where he was signed by Second Division club Reading in 1927, making his Football League debut against Southampton in February 1928. Never a regular during his three seasons at Elm Park, he made a further 6 appearances through to the season end and played 7 more matches in 1928-29. Between November 1929 and February 1930 he played his final 10 matches for Reading, the last 7 matches playing at left back, and his career after leaving Elm Park is uncertain.
