Goalkeeper Nicholls was at Queens Park Rangers from at least 1908 to at least 1914. He was at various times in competition for the gloves with other goalkeepers, for example he didn’t play in the 1908 FA Charity Shield match against Manchester United when Charlie Shaw was in Rangers’ goal. He was probably in the squad for the Southern League Championship win in 1907-08 when Shaw was the principal goalkeeper, and definitely at the club for their 1911-12 Championship when Shaw was still the principal incumbent.
