Description

Darnall, Sheffield born inside forward Arthur Nelson started his football career with junior club Sheffield Woodhouse in 1926 before joining Second Division Hull City, for whom he made his Football League debut at Chelsea in October 1927, scoring 8 goals in 19 appearances for The Tigers in his debut season. However the following season he made only 3 further first team appearances and in the 1929 close season he joined Midland League club Scarborough. In the summer of 1930 he joined Third Division Notts County but was a reserve at Meadow Lane, not making a single first team appearance as Notts won the Third Division (South) Championship.

He joined Stockport County in the 1931 close season, scoring 5 goals in 19 appearances for The Hatters, before joining the other Hatters, Luton Town, in the summer of 1932. Again his stay was limited to a single season, during which he scored 7 goals in 26 appearances before joining non league Nuneaton Town in 1933. He moved to Wellington Town in 1934 and finished his career at Burton Town, whom he joined in 1935.
