Description

South Bank, Middlesbrough born goalkeeper Paddy Nash began his football career with South Bank East End and signed for hometown First Division club Middlesbrough in September 1937, making his Football League debut against Preston North End at the start of the following month. Nash retained the gloves during October and November before the return of regular keeper Dave Cumming, making in total 16 appearances for ‘Boro before the outbreak of the Second World War forced the abandonment of peacetime football in September 1939.

After the conflict Nash returned to Ayresome Park where he remained understudy to Dave Cumming and after 3 further first team appearances he joined Third Division (South) club Southend United in December 1947, where he played until 1951, making 32 of his 59 first team appearances in their 1948-49 campaign. He returned to north east non league football with Annfield Plain in 1951, his last known club before his eventual retirement.
