Description

Wishaw, Lanarkshire born centre forward Evelyn Morrison played for Hamilton Academy in 1925 and Moorpark Amateurs in 1926, before joining Stenhousemuir in 1927. He was signed by Falkirk later the same year where he had significant success. Between November 1928 and March 1929 he scored 28 goals in 16 consecutive matches, which included 2 hat-tricks and all 4 goals against Raith Rovers in a 4-1 victory. Quite possibly this run of consecutive scoring is a Scottish record. He holds the Falkirk club record for goalscoring in a season, recording 47 goals in 1928-29. He finished as the top scorer in the Scottish Football League Division One in the 1928-29 season, scoring 39 goals.

Such feats brought him to the attention of larger clubs and he was sold to First Division Sunderland, making his Football League debut at Grimsby Town in November 1929, but he found opportunities limited at Roker Park, scoring 5 goals in 12 appearances during 1929-30, and 2 goals in only 4 appearances in 1930-31, before returning to Scotland to join Partick Thistle in the 1931 close season. He moved back into junior football in 1932 and retired from playing altogether in 1937.
