Bristol born inside forward (he played both sides) Frederick “Jerry” Morgan began his football career with Horfield United and played for Bath City after the First World War in 1919, before signing for Third Division (South) club Bristol City in May 1920, ahead of their inaugural Football League season. He made his Football League debut at Norwich City at the end of October that season, scoring a hat-trick in his fifth match in a 9-0 FA Cup romp over non league Worksop Town. Morgan had five seasons at Eastville, scoring 30 goals in 122 appearances for The Pirates.
He joined non league Brislington Wednesday in the 1925 close season and went on to play for Showman’s Guild in 1926, Bristol City Wednesday in 1927 and Bristol South Wednesday in 1928 before his eventual retirement.
