Burnley, Lancashire born left half Billy Morgan began his football career with Burnley St Mary before the First World War, during which he served with The Royal Navy. After the War he joined hometown First Division club Burnley, making his Football League debut at Bradford City in October 1921 as they were defending their League Championship won the previous season. He made 6 appearances that season as Burnley finished third in the First Division, and 4 the following season, but came into the team on a regular basis in September 1923. He played in all of Burnley’s first four FA Cup ties on their way to the 1924 semi final, however in a home match to Sunderland in March 1924 it appears he suffered a career ending injury after 34 matches for The Clarets.
