He only played once for Cardiff that April in a home draw with Barnsley before a transfer to Leeds United in September 1951, where he scored 10 goals in 37 matches before a return to Torquay United in December 1952. He became a mainstay for The Gulls, being an ever present in 1953-54 and 1955-56, missing just one match in 1956-57 as Torquay finished runners up in the Third Division (South). He played his last match of 367 in May 1962 before his retirement, having scored 84 goals for Torquay United.
