Description

Alnwick, Northumberland born centre forward or inside left William Miller began his football career with Ryhope Villa and signed for Southern League Brighton & Hove Albion in 1910. In 1914-15, Brighton’s last season before the onset of the First World War forced the abandonment of peacetime football in May 1915, Miller scored 12 goals in 17 appearances, joint top scoring for Brighton with William Jones, who played more than double the number of games.

After the conflict Miller returned to The Goldstone Ground, and continued to play for Brighton, and when Brighton joined The Football League’s new Third Division in 1920 he made his Football League debut against Bristol Rovers that October. Miller made his final 7 appearances for The Seagulls in League football before joining non league Hove in 1921, and he subsequently played for Redhill in 1922 and Shoreham in 1923 before his eventual retirement.
