Description

Dalserf, Lanarkshire born outside right Angus Meikle started his football career with Larkhall United in 1916 before joining Royal Albert a year later. He joined Heart of Midlothian for £35 in May 1920, making his Scottish League debut, scoring in a 3-1 win over Hibernian on 5th May 1920, and he scored 6 times in 57 appearances for The Jambos over the next two seasons before moving to Portsmouth for £290 in May 1922.

He made his Football League debut against Bristol Rovers in August 1922 and missed very few games over the next four seasons, being an ever present as Portsmouth won the Division Three (South) Championship in 1923-24, missing only two games in their 1924-25 Second Division campaign, but he lost his regular place in February 1926. He played only once more for Portsmouth, scoring in a 2-0 win over Fulham in September 1926 before joining Grimsby Town in June 1927 after 27 goals in 165 appearances for Pompey. He stayed a single season on Humberside, scoring twice in 14 appearances, before joining non league Bangor City in the summer of 1928.
