Description

Dennistoun, Glasgow born wing half Lacky McPherson began his football career with Cambuslang Juniors in 1919 and played for Cambuslang Rangers in 1920 before moving south to join Second Division Notts County in May 1921. He made his Football League debut at Bristol City that September, and in his second season at Meadow Lane made 14 League appearances as The Magpies won the Second Division Championship. However he only featured 5 times in the top flight for County before being signed by Third Division Swansea Town in the summer of 1924 after 5 goals in 32 appearances.

He made 30 appearances in his first season at The Vetch as they won the 1924-25 Third Division (South) Championship, and he continued as a mainstay of the first team over the next 4 years in the Second Division until he was signed by First Division Everton in December 1929, after 30 goals in 216 appearances for The Swans. Although largely a fringe player at Goodison Park he again won the Second Division Championship with them in 1930-31 after their relegation from the First Division in 1930, but played just 3 times in their League Championship win the next season. He remained at Goodison until August 1933, and then joined near neighbours New Brighton after scoring once in 31 appearances for The Toffees. An ever present in 1933-34 he lost his place the next season and joined non league Hereford United in 1935 after 3 goals in 57 appearances for the Wirral club. He later joined Milford United in 1936 before retirement.
