Seaton Delaval, Northumberland born full back James “Jock” McMillan played for Seaton Delaval after World War One joining Newcastle United Swifts in 1919 and new Football League club Newport County in 1920, for whom he made his Football League debut at Swindon Town in November 1920, playing 21 games in their inaugural Football League campaign. However the following season he only featured 4 times, his last 2 matches being home and away defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion in March 1922, and after only 25 matches he left the professional game.
