mcgovern-tomOld Kilpatrick, Dunbartonshire born inside left or right Tom McGovern began his football career with Scottish First Division club Clydebank, and spent 1921-22 on the books of Millwall, where he didn’t make the first eleven, before returning to Clydebank. He moved again later the same year, joining Queen of the South, before a return to Football League action with Torquay United in 1927, where he mainly played at inside left during the club’s first season in the League, playing against Exeter City that August in their inaugural League fixture. He scored once in 18 matches for The Gulls, but returned to non league football firstly to play for Sheppey United in 1928, and he then played for Northfleet United in 1929 before a move to Sittingbourne in 1930.
