Description

Hamilton, Lanarkshire born inside left Lachlan MacMillan began his football career with Larkhall Thistle and played for Petershill and Rutherglen Glencairn before signing for hometown club Hamilton Academical in December 1920. Described as “a crafty two-footed inside forward”, he spent time on loan at Royal Albert in August 1922 but returned to Douglas Park and was sold to Heart of Midlothian for £1,960 in April 1924. MacMillan played for Hearts for ten seasons, having a loan spell at Aberdeen from February to April 1931 when he scored twice in 3 appearances for The Dons and another at Partick Thistle between September 1932 and April 1933.

After 54 goals in 178 appearances for Hearts, MacMillan, who played his last match for Hearts at Queen’s Park in September 1933, was sold to Third Lanark for £100 in February 1934 but his spell with The Warriors was brief and he joined Highland League club Elgin City in August, staying with them until his retirement in April 1937.
