Ryton-on-Tyne, County Durham born centre half Dan Ludkin began his football career with Close Works in 1921 before joining Third Division (North) club Lincoln City in 1922, making his Football League debut at Durham City in February 1923. He scored his only career goal in a 1-0 home win over Crewe Alexandra at the end of March, and made 13 appearances during his debut season, but he played only one more time for The Imps, in a 1-1 draw with Halifax Town in August 1923 before leaving the professional game.
