Description
Tynemouth, Tyne & Wear born inside right Ted Lowery played junior football for Walker Park in 1928 and Usworth Colliery in 1929 before heading north to start his professional career with Scottish League club East Fife in 1930. He joined First Division Leicester City in 1932 and made his Football League debut against Sheffield United that August, scoring once in 15 appearances for The Foxes over the next two seasons, during which he had a loan spell with Yeovil & Petters United in 1933.
In the summer of 1934 he joined Torquay United, where he was described as “very fast and a fine forward”, staying two seasons and scoring 11 goals in 38 appearances, before returning to the north east to join Darlington in 1936. He scored 4 goals in 13 appearances during a single season at Feethams, before joining Frickley Colliery in 1937, subsequently playing for Burton Town in 1938.
