Description

Edmonton, Middlesex born right half Arthur Lowdell began his senior football career  at Welsh non-league club Ton Pentre in 1920 from where he joined Second Division Sheffield Wednesday in 1921, making his Football League debut at Wolverhampton Wanderers in January 1922. Although he played some first team matches each season, he established himself in Wednesday’s first team from January 1925, and played 29 times during their 1925-26 campaign as they won the Second Division Championship.

He was a regular in their first season back in the top flight, but he was sold to Tottenham Hotspur in the close season of 1927 after 6 goals in 116 appearances for The Owls. His first season at Spurs ended in relegation, he then missed only 3 matches in 1928-29 and was made captain of the club as Tottenham finished mid-table, however in November 1929 he suffered a career ending injury and was forced to retire after 91 appearances for Tottenham.
