Hartlepool, County Durham born right back Jimmy Longmore began his football career with Central Machine Engine Works and signed for hometown Third Division (North) club Hartlepools United in 1922, making his Football League debut against Durham City on Boxing Day 1922. He played 12 matches for The Monkey Hangers before the season end and then signed for Second Division club Derby County in the summer of 1923, but he never made the breakthrough to The Rams’ first eleven and the rest of his career is uncertain.
