Description

Chester, Cheshire born outside left Jack Lipsham began his football career with Chester St John’s and from there joined hometown professional club Chester in 1904, from where he signed for First Division Champions Liverpool in May 1906, making his Football League debut at Manchester United on Christmas Day that year, one of only 3 matches he played for The Reds across the season. Lipsham returned to Chester in 1907 and helped them win the Welsh Cup in 1908. He received a benefit from the club in 1912, before joining Wrexham for a season in 1913. He then moved to Crewe Alexandra in 1914 but his career was interrupted by the onset of the First World War, which forced the suspension of peacetime football, and after the War he re-joined Chester for a third spell in 1919, playing for The Seals until his retirement in 1921.

His older brother Bert was an England international who played for Chester, Sheffield United, Fulham and Millwall. Two other brothers also played for Chester.
