Description

Rotherham, Yorkshire born Percy Lewis never played football professionally but became manager of Second Division club Stockport County in June 1911 in succession to Fred Stewart who had left to join Cardiff City. Lewis managed County for three seasons before leaving in April 1914, when he joined Barnsley, managing them for the final games of the 1913-14 season and for the final season before the onset of the First World War forced the suspension of peacetime football. After the War he became manager of Hull City in July 1921 and held the post for a season and a half before being replaced by Billy McCracken in January 1923.
