Description

Strathblane, Stirlingshire born outside left Bill Kinghorn began his football career with Kirkintilloch Rob Roy in 1933 and played for Pollok in 1934 from where he joined amateur Scottish League club Queen’s Park in 1936, where he came to the attention of Liverpool, who signed him in May 1938, his Football League debut coming against Chelsea at Anfield that August. He scored 4 goals in 19 matches for The Reds across the season in contention with Herman van den Berg for the left wing berth, but his career was then severely interrupted by the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939. During the War he played as a guest for Leicester City, Brighton & Hove Albion, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Leeds United, Blackburn Rovers, and Burnley as a wartime guest but didn’t resume his career after the end of the conflict.
