Warsop, Nottinghamshire born outside left Jimmy Jones began his football career in 1914 with Welbeck Colliery and after the end of the First World War he joined First Division club Notts County, making his Football League debut at Chelsea in March 1920. However he couldn’t save The Magpies from relegation and made only one further appearance the following November before joining non league Alfreton Town in 1921 after 11 matches for Notts County.
He returned to Football League action in 1922 joining Third Division (South) club Brighton & Hove Albion and had a run in the side during the first half of the season before losing his place in January, playing just once more in April 1924 before leaving to join Mansfield Town after 3 goals in 19 matches for The Seagulls. He then joined Crystal Palace in 1924 but failed to get into their first eleven, and played out his career in non league football with Worksop Town, Welbeck Colliery and Shirebrook before his eventual retirement.
