Glasgow born centre half Patrick Hunt began his football career with Shawfield in 1926 and joined Scottish League Hamilton Academical in 1927, before being signed by First Division Burnley as a replacement for Jack Hill after he had been transferred to Newcastle United. He made his Football League debut at Birmingham towards the end of November 1928, and made 11 first team appearances for The Clarets through to February 1929. Unable to command a first team berth, he joined Irish League Belfast Celtic in 1930 before returning to Scotland in 1931 to join Alloa Athletic, where he played out his career.
