High Blantyre, Lanarkshire born wing half George Henderson played junior football for Coatbridge St Patrick’s in 1891 and Burnbank Swifts in 1892 before joining Motherwell in 1893, moving to Airdrieonians in 1895. In May 1897 he joined First Division Preston North End and made his Football League debut at Wolverhampton Wanderers that September, but played only once more for Preston before joining Southern League Swindon Town in the 1898 close season. for whom he scored 12 goals in 57 appearances over the next two seasons. He then spent a season at Millwall Athletic before returning to Football League action with First Division Nottingham Forest in June 1901, spending the next 5 seasons at The City Ground scoring 6 goals in 114 appearances. After Forest’s relegation in 1906 he returned to Scotland to join Hamilton Academical, also playing briefly for Girvan Athletic.
