Lancaster born goalkeeper Billy Harrison started his football career with Scotforth in 1921, playing for Marsh Wesleyans in 1922 and Lancaster Town in 1923, from where he joined First Division Bury, making his Football League debut at Manchester City in January 1925.

Initially understudy to Billy Richardson for four seasons, he played 35 times in 1928-29 during Bury’s relegation season, thereafter sharing goalkeeping duties with the likes of Harry Hardy and Tommy Mills before leaving Bury to re-join Lancaster Town in the summer of 1933 after 137 appearances for The Shakers.
