Sheffield born goalkeeper Henry Baker began his football career with St John’s Institute in 1919 before joining Third Division (North) Halifax Town, making his Football League debut in their inaugural League season against Stalybridge Celtic in October 1921. He made 20 League appearances that season for The Shaymen, who struggled to a 19th place finish at the end of the 1921-22 season. He was not retained and joined Brighton & Hove Albion in the 1922 close season, where he was understudy to ever present first choice Billy Hayes, and he failed to make a first team appearance for Brighton. His career post Brighton is uncertain.
