Description

Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire born inside left Albert Green joined Rickmansworth in 1908 and moved to Watford Orient in the summer of 1912. He joined Southern League club Watford as an amateur in August 1912 and made his Southern League debut against Reading in March 1913, turning professional early in 1914. He scored 13 goals in 50 appearances for Watford prior to the First World War, scoring 8 goals as they won the 1914-15 Southern League Championship, and during the War he served in the Armed Forces and also played 9 times for The Hornets in Wartime football, but on resumption he joined Crystal Palace in 1919, scoring twice in 9 appearances in the first peacetime season of 1919-20 before moving to Sheppey United at the end of the season.

He then joined Southern League club Charlton Athletic in February 1921 and when they joined the Third Division (South) that summer, Green made his Football League debut against Exeter City that August in Charlton’s inaugural League match. He scored 3 goals in 17 appearances that season before moving to Millwall in May 1922, where he failed to make a first team appearance. He then joined Reading in July 1923, scoring once in 10 appearances during 1923-24 before his retirement from the professional game.
