Description

Gorbals, Glasgow born right winger Peter Gavigan began his football career with Vale of Clyde after the First World War’s end in 1919, joining Second Division club Fulham in 1920, for whom he made his Football League debut against Clapton Orient that December. Although never a first team regular, he stayed five seasons at Craven Cottage, scoring once, in a 1-0 win over Blackpool in December 1921, in 78 appearances, before joining Clapton Orient in the 1925 close season.

At Lea Bridge Road he enjoyed two seasons of regular football scoring 4 goals in 68 appearances as Orient just about escaped relegation both seasons, but in the summer of 1927 he joined Birmingham & District League club Bilston United before fairly shortly thereafter returning to Scotland to join Scottish League club St Johnstone. After three years with the Muirton Park club, he joined Dundee in 1930, and after a further two years with The Dark Blues he moved to Montrose in 1932. He finished his career by signing for Dundee United in December 1932, where he made 15 first team appearances before the end of the season, whereupon he retired from professional football.
