Crowle, Lincolnshire born outside right Stan Foxall started his football career with Gainsborough Trinity in 1931 and made his senior debut in an FA Cup first round tie at Doncaster Rovers in November 1932. He joined Second Division club West Ham United making his Football League debut at Bradford Park Avenue in September 1934, but had only 4 outings that season, scoring a brace in a 4-5 defeat at Swansea Town in March 1935. He also scored in his only appearance of 1935-36 in a win at Port Vale in April 1936 but soon established his place in the first eleven later the same year.
He represented the London Combination against the Central League in November 1936. Unfortunately the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939 completely disrupted his West Ham career and having scored 43 goals in 113 appearances he didn’t play again for The Hammers in senior peacetime football. He was a member of the team that won the Football League War Cup in 1940 and made 149 wartime League and cup appearances for the East London club, scoring 63 goals. However his career was cut short by a knee injury sustained in a match against Queens Park Rangers in September 1944.
He joined Southern League club Colchester United in 1948 and played two seasons for them immediately prior to their promotion to Football League status, and later played for Chelmsford City in 1950.
