Johnstown, Wrexham born left back Noel Edwards began his football career with Rhos Athletic from where he joined newly elected Third Division (North) club Wrexham in the 1921 close season, making his Football League debut in their inaugural League fixture against Hartlepools United in August 1921. However he lost his place in October after 10 matches, and only played twice more in his debut season before claiming a more regular place in 1922-23, when he played 30 times for The Dragons.

However he spent a further two seasons appearing only in less than half of Wrexham’s matches, and he made his final 6 appearances of 86 in total, having scored 3 times as an occasional inside left, before leaving Wrexham in the summer of 1926 to join non league Llandudno. He played for Oswestry Town in 1927 and Holywell United in 1928, and had an unsuccessful trial with Carlisle United in 1929 before finishing his football career.
