Carshalton, Surrey born left half Bert Dunn’s football career was unremarkable in almost every respect besides one. He had joined Carshalton Athletic in 1911 playing for them both sides of the First World War, signing for Third Division (South) Charlton Athletic in 1921. He then played in Charlton’s inaugural Football League match when they beat Exeter City 1-0 at The Valley, but only played 7 further matches for Charlton through to April 1922 before leaving The Addicks at the end of the season and with them professional football. However he will always be known at Charlton for being a member of their first Football League team.
