Renton born inside forward Andy Duncan started his playing career at his local club Renton Thistle in 1929 before joining Dumbarton in 1929. In 1930 he moved to Hull City where he made his Football League debut at Wrexham in March 1931 and scored 9 goals as they won the Third Division (North) Championship in 1932-33. He played 115 matches for The Tigers and found the net on 31 occasions. Duncan joined First Division Tottenham Hotspur in March 1935, just before they were relegated that May, where he went on to feature in 103 games and scoring 26 goals in all competitions for the White Hart Lane club. After leaving the Spurs in the summer of 1939 he ended his playing career at Chelmsford City.
