Description

Wishaw, Lanarkshire born wing half William Duguid began his senior football career with Heart of Midlothian but didn’t make the breakthrough with The Jambos before signing for Albion Rovers in 1905. He returned to Edinburgh to join Hibernian in 1906 where he spent four seasons as a first team regular, scoring 5 goals in 140 appearances, and he was a losing Scottish Cup semi finalist with Hibs in both 1907 and 1910.

He transferred to First Division club Middlesbrough in the 1910 close season and made his Football League debut against Tottenham Hotspur that October, however during three seasons at Ayresome Park he struggled to establish himself in the first eleven despite playing all across the half back line, as well as at inside left and at full back on both sides. He played his last match of 24 for ‘Boro in April 1913 before leaving Middlesbrough, and his career thereafter is uncertain.
