Bradford, Yorkshire born left half Don Duckett began his football career before the First World War playing for Wibsey in 1911, Thornton in 1912 and Queensbury United in 1913 but after the end of the War he joined hometown club Bradford City in July 1919 and made his Football League debut at Burnley that September. He was ever present during their relegation season in 1921-22 and continued to play for The Bantams until his final match in October 1924.

However that December he signed for Halifax Town after 7 goals in 165 appearances for Bradford City. He played 121 games for Halifax before returning to Bradford with Park Avenue in November 1927, playing 16 times as Avenue won the Third Division (North) Championship that season. 1928-29 proved his last season in professional football as he played a further 21 times for Park Avenue as Bradford finished third in the Second Division, before retiring from the game.
