Lancaster, Lancashire born inside or outside right Harold Douthwaite was at Cambridge University after the First World War and played for The Corinthians during the early 1920’s, winning international recognition when capped by England Amateurs in January 1923, scoring twice in a 4-4 draw with Wales Amateurs at Ayresome Park, Middlesbrough, his only cap for England Amateurs. Among the matches in which he featured for Corinthians was their FA Cup first round replay defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in January 1923 when they were beaten 1-0 at Stamford Bridge after a 1-1 draw at The Goldstone Ground in which he didn’t play.

Douthwaite also played first class cricket for Lancashire as a middle order batsman, playing in 3 matches during the 1920 and 1921 seasons, scoring 85 runs in 5 innings with a highest score of 29 and an average of 17.00, and taking a single catch in those matches.
