Portsmouth born inside forward Edward Didymus began his football career with hometown Southern League club Portsmouth in 1904, staying 3 seasons before joining fellow Southern League club Northampton Town in 1907. A move to newly formed Huddersfield Town followed a year later, from where he joined Blackpool in 1909, making his Football League debut at Oldham Athletic in December 1909, playing for a second and final time 2 days after Christmas at Leeds City.
In November 1910 he joined North Staffordshire & District League side Port Vale, making his debut in a 2-2 draw at Congleton Town on 26th November 1910. He scored four goals in a 9-0 Hanley Cup win over Goldenhill Catholics on 2nd December, before departing the club at the end of the year.
