Description
Harwood, Lancashire born full back Joe Derbyshire started his football career with Lancashire League Darwen in 1901 and joined Second Division Preston North End in 1902, making his Football League debut against Burton United in November of that year. He played 34 games as Preston won the Second Division Championship in 1903-04 and featured in 5 more seasons at Deepdale, scoring 8 times in 137 games, all coming from the penalty spot, including two in his final game for Preston in a 3-2 win over Bristol City in March 1909. He joined non league Rossendale United later in 1909, re-joining Darwen in 1910 and later playing for Great Harwood in 1911.
