Nelson, Lancashire born left winger Arthur Davies was an amateur footballer who played for The Corinthians after the First World War and who won an England Amateur international cap when he played in a 2-0 defeat to Wales at Molineux in January 1921. He joined Third Division (South) Northampton Town that summer and made his Football League debut against Brentford that October, scoring his only goal for The Cobblers in a 1-0 victory over Watford the following month. He made 12 appearances for Northampton Town during the 1921-22 season before returning to play for The Corinthians.
NB in the photograph he appears to be wearing a Corinthians shirt, although the image was published during his spell with Northampton Town.
