Description

Mexborough, Yorkshire born inside left Fred Connelly began his football career with Rotherham Main Institute from where he was signed by newly promoted First Division club Bristol City in August 1906, making his Football League debut at Liverpool in April 1907, scoring in a 4-2 defeat. He scored once more in 3 further matches before the end of the season and scored a brace on his first outing of the 1907-08 season in a win at Woolwich Arsenal in September 1907. After 6 goals in 13 appearances he joined Southern League club Brentford in the 1908 close season, where he scored 12 goals in 34 appearances in 1908-09 during a single season stay at Griffin Park before joining hometown Midland League club Mexborough in 1909. After three seasons he joined Rotherham County, where he played until 1913.
