Description

Glasgow born wing half Alex Christie had been at Larkhall Thistle before joining Hamilton Academical in 1914. After the War he joined then Southern League Reading in July 1919 and then played 31 games in their inaugural Football League season including being in the line up for their first League match at Newport County in August 1920.

In June 1921 he joined Walsall for a season, scoring twice in 36 games, before a move to Southampton in May 1922 and Norwich City in July 1923 produced a mere 5 appearances for each. In July 1924 he joined Rochdale and stayed at Spotland four seasons, scoring 6 goals in 143 games as they finished third and then runners up in Division Three (North) in 1926 and 1927, narrowly missing out on promotion. A move to Exeter City followed in May 1928 but he only played 4 matches for The Grecians during his spell in Devon before moving to non league Aldershot (soon to join the Football League themselves) in 1929.
