Burradon, Tyne & Wear born centre half Andy Carr started his football career with Percy Main Amateurs in 1926 joining Washington Colliery in 1927 and Burradon Colliery Welfare in 1928. He signed for First Division Middlesbrough in May 1929 making his Football League debut at Manchester City in November 1930 but his oppoerunities in the first team were very limited and he only played 5 games for ‘Boro in 5 seasons before joining Mansfield Town in June 1934.
His single season at Field Mill saw him score once in 14 appearances for The Stags, before he joined Crewe Alexandra in July 1935, where he scored twice in 41 matches during 1935-36. He then moved to Rochdale in June 1936, for whom he made 34 appearances before finishing with professional football in 1937.
NB although published after his move to Mansfield Town, he is clearly wearing a Middlesbrough shirt.
