Description

Battersea, London born centre half Bill Caesar began his football career, throughout which he remained an amateur with Dulwich Hamlet in 1922, before joining Darlington, spending 1924-25 on their books without making a first team appearance for The Quakers. He joined Second Division Fulham in 1925 and made his Football League debut at Wolverhampton Wanderers in April 1926, his only appearance for The Cottagers.

While at Fulham he played for The Amateurs in the FA Charity Shield in their sensational 6-1 victory over The Professionals at White Hart Lane in October 1925, having already made his debut for England’s amateur international side against South Africa at White Hart Lane in November 1924, also playing for England Amateurs in a 6-4 win over Ireland at London Road, Maidstone in November 1925, although this proved to be his final England cap.

After a spell with Harwich & Parkeston, he played for the London Caledonians in 1926 before joining Chelsea, spending 1926-27 on their books without making a first team appearance. He then joined Third Division (South) Walsall in the summer of 1927, and made 8 appearances for them in the autumn of 1927, although on 6 of those occasions he finished on the losing side.

After a return to Dulwich Hamlet in 1928 he joined Brentford in 1929 and made his final League appearance at former club Fulham that October, his only first team outing for The Bees. He joined Hayes in 1930 and played for Wimbledon the same year, before playing for Egham in 1931. He finished his career with spells at Leyton in 1932 and with Civil Service, whom he joined later the same year.
