Larkhall, Lanarkshire born inside forward Ollie Burns began his career with Royal Albert in 1934 before joining Queen of the South a year later, playing in some of their most successful teams of the mid 1930’s. He joined Airdrieonians in 1937 and Irish League Glenavon in 1938 before being signed by Second Division Burnley in March 1939, but the Second World War broke out in September 1939 before he’d made a first team appearance for The Clarets. After the War he joined Oldham Athletic in October 1946 scoring 5 times in 27 appearances for The Latics that season, before joining Halifax Town in September 1947. He scored 5 times in 28 appearances for The Shaymen in 1947-48 before joining non league Nelson later in 1949.
