Hounslow born left back Fred Bullock started his football career with Hounslow Town in 1904, playing for Custom House in 1908 and joining Ilford in 1909, he also represented Middlesex FA and won an England Amateur international cap when he was selected in a 3-2 defeat to Ireland at Cliftonville, Belfast in November 1910.
He made his Football League debut at Birmingham in December 1910 having joined Huddersfield Town from Ilford, and in a career interrupted by the First World War he made 215 appearances for The Terriers, scoring once, including 33 League games during their 1919-20 promotion season to Division One that would see them dominate English football over the coming few years under Herbert Chapman.
During the War he fought with The Footballer’s Battalion and was wounded at The Somme in July 1916. On resumption he was appointed Huddersfield club captain. He was part of The Terriers’ 1920 FA Cup Final team that lost to Aston Villa, and he also won a single England cap in October 1920 in the victory over Ireland at Roker Park. However injury ended his football career prematurely in 1921 and he died of ammonia poisoning in November 1922 in a probable suicide aged 36.
