Outside right James Brock joined East Stirlingshire in 1895, before moving south to join Arsenal in May 1896. Brock made his debut against Manchester City in September 1896 but did not score until his fourth match in a 2-0 win over Loughborough. He netted another nine times in 25 appearances the following season as Woolwich Arsenal finished third in Division Two. Brock had a healthy scoring record for the Club, scoring 23 goals in 63 starts. But despite being a regular for two seasons, Brock was sold to Cowes for £30 in November 1898. He returned to Scotland in 1899 before joining Abercorn in 1900.
