Description

Chipping Sodbury born goalkeeper Frank Boulton played for Yate YMCA before joining Bristol City as an amateur in November 1934, spending 1934-35 on their books without making a first team appearance before joining Bath City in 1936. He moved to Arsenal in October 1936 making his Football League debut at Preston North End that December, playing 25 games as Arsenal finished 3rd in the League. The following season he played 17 times as Arsenal finished League Champions, but in August 1938 he moved to Derby County for whom he played both sides of World War Two, missing out on the 1946 FA Cup Final due to injury having played 6 games in the Cup run leading up to the Final. He moved to Swindon Town in August 1946 making 103 appearances over the next 4 seasons for The Robins before moving to Crystal Palace in October 1950, however he failed to make a first team appearance at Palace and moved to non league Bedford Town in 1951 before retirement.
