Little is known of James McMinn, who was Morton’s regular outside left in the period around Morton’s appearance in the 1922 Scottish Cup Final in April 1922 at Hampden Park in front of 75,000 spectators, McMinn playing as Morton won the Scottish Cup for the one and only time in their history, when a Jimmy Gourlay goal, from a free kick in the 11th minute was enough to beat Glasgow Rangers and bring the Cup to Greenock.
