Description
Hull born inside forward Ernie Bell played for Blundell Street Old Boys before joining hometown club Hull City in March 1936 making his Football League debut against Hartlepools United in December 1936. He scored 5 goals in 28 matches for The Tigers before joining Mansfield Town in May 1938, where he scored 4 goals in 36 appearances during a single season in 1938-39. He moved to Aldershot in July 1939 and appeared for them 6 times in the 1945-46 FA Cup, before returning to Hull City in August 1946 for whom he made a further 5 appearances, scoring once, before he joined non league Scarborough in 1947.
