Sheffield born full back George Beech played for Attercliffe Sports Club before joining Sheffield Wednesday in May 1911 but didn’t make their first eleven. He joined Southern League Brighton & Hove Albion in 1914. Beech fought with the 17th (Service) Battalion of the Duke of Cambridge’s Own (Middlesex Regiment) (more popularly known as the 1st Football Battalion) during the First World War. After World War One he featured with Welsh League clubs Bridgend and Ebbw Vale. He moved back to Brighton as player-coach and made his Football League debut in November 1924 against Charlton Athletic, playing twice for The Seagulls in November 1924.
